Let us start with the Pass Line. This is the area where you place your Pass Line Bet.

A pass line bet is the most popular bet you can make at the craps tables. You make this bet before rolling the dice (before your come out roll). In the first throw, if you make a 7 or an 11, you win your bet. On the other hand, if you make 2, 3, or 12, then you lose your bet. If you make any other number than these, then that number becomes your point. You want to roll that point again before rolling out a 7. For example, if you roll out a 5, then that is your box point. Your next aim should be to roll out a 5 again, before rolling out a 7. This will make you win the bet.

Don’t Pass Bar

Next let’s talk about the Don’t Pass Bar. This area of the craps table layout is used to place a Don’t Pass Bet. This type requires you to place a bet against the outcome of the dice. In simple terms, Don’t Pass Bet is the opposite of Pass Line Bet. Just like the Pass Line bet, this bet has to be made before the coming out roll. In this case, if you roll out a 7 or an 11, then you lose. If you roll out a 2, or 3, then you win. Rolling out 12 means that you neither win nor lose. This is the “bar” of the Don’t Pass Bar area. If you roll any other number than those, then that becomes your box point. If you repeat this number before rolling out a 7 then you lose. So if your box point is 5, and you roll out a 5 before a 7, then you lose. If you roll out a 7 before the point, then you win.

Come Bet

Next is the “Come Area”. This is associated with the “Come Bet”.

Unlike the first two bet, Come Bet is made after a point is established. This is like the “virtual” pass line bet. The other rules are the same as with pass line bet. If you roll a 7 or 11, you win right away. A 2, 3, or 12 is a loser. Any other number becomes your Come Bet point. Your next aim should be to roll that point before throwing a 7.

Don’t Come Bet

Don’t Come Bar- This area of casino craps table is for the Don’t Come Bet. It is a “virtual” Don’t Pass Bet. It is made after the point is established. 7 or 11 means you lose. 2 or 3 is a winner. With a 12, you neither win nor lose. If you roll any other number, then that becomes your point. You aim now is to NOT roll that number again before rolling a 7. If you roll a 7 before your box point, then you win the bet.

Now let’s go to the “Field” area. This is for the field bet. It is also known as one roll bet. It can be made at any time during the game. What you bet with this, is the outcome of your next throw. If the next roll comes out to be any number that is listed in this area (2,3,4,9,10,11,12), then you win. If any other number that is not listed in this area is rolled, then you lose. Rolling a 2 and 12, gets your money doubled.

Craps Table Layout

The Big 6 and Big 8 area- This is for the Big 6 and Big 8 Bet. You can place this bet any time. This bet is placed either at the Big 6 area or the Big 8 area. If you choose Big 6, then you are betting that a 6 will be rolled before a 7. If it does, you win the bet. On the other hand, if a 7 is rolled before 6, then you lose. Same rules apply for Big 8 (you are aiming for 8 before 7).

Place Bet

Place Bet is another form of bet. With this you can bet on any number, anytime. Just tell your dealer, the numbers you want to bet on. If those numbers come out before you roll a 7, then you win.

So now you know how to decode the craps table layout. It wasn’t that hard after all, right? Once you start to practice, it will become much more easier. There are a lot of places you can play this game for free. If you want to play at your home, you could buy a craps table from places like Amazon or EBay. You can even build one on your own.
